CAREER
She was
born on May 15, 1974 in a city named Solarolo – RA Italy;
Laura started singing very early, by her father’s influence,
that he is also a musician. She used to sing in pubs of the
genre: Soul, Blue e Pop. Singing since 08 years of age and
making her first single performance when she was 12 years
old, in Bologna, when was recorded a disc named: I Sogni Di
Laura”, that has in its repertoire two songs written by
Fabrizio Pausini (“Lasciame Dormire” e “Le Stelle”), besides
covers of known artist, like Elvis Presley. The songs
written by her father, that until today are unknown. |

“Because I was so
afraid to be judge that they were made in a age that I was not so
mature. I wrote the lyrics and the song because in spite I have
never learned piano, I studied a lot of traverse flute that gave me
a little bit of knowledge. Later in musical world I met so many
people that helped me to improve my compositions among them Cheope
that helped me to free myself”.
In the beginning of
her career, Laura sang in piano bar, with her father and in one of
these places that Angelo Valsiglio discovered her and tried to bet
on her. He and more to writers composed the song: “La Solitudine”.
When she was 17 years old she was participant of many concourses,
until then when she was 18 years old, she won de San Remo Festival.
Singing “La Solitudine”, she won the San Remo festival. And one of
the ways for a woman to be a singer in Italy is participating of
this festival. Even that way Laura had a lot of criticizes, because
Italian people prefer singers who write their own songs.

But since then,
she realized her biggest dream, releasing the album named:
“Laura Pausini” that sold already more than 2 millions
copies in the world, and it is still being selling. |

Her second
album, titled “Laura” continued to be criticized because she
didn’t write her own songs yet, but it wasn’t because she
didn’t want to, in her first album she didn’t know yet how
to express her feelings in a poetic way and in her second,
she didn’t have enough time, because of her performances
around the world. But even the critics were not appreciating
her job; Laura was every time getting the tenderness of her
public around the world. The cd “Laura” has sold more than 4
millions copies and it is still selling in 37 countries!
Another of her famous songs: “Strani Amori” is part of this
cd. In 94 Laura got the 3° position in San Remo Festival, in
“Big” category. |

Her third
album was a: “collection” of her main songs of the preview
albums, but this time, they are sung in Spanish. Only in
Spain, it sold more than 1 million copies! |
Her
three albums: “Laura Pausini”, “Laura” and “Laura Pausini” (in
Spanish) sold more than 6 millions copies in 37 countries. And they
gave to Laura so many rewards:
On
May 04, 1995, Laura won the “World Music Award”, the European Grammy
that happened in Montecarlo, like “Best Selling Italian Artist”
Laura was the only Italian singer who sold more disco in the world,
in 1994.
On
May 18, 1995, Laura received the award Lo Nuestro, in Miami, as
revelation among the singers of Latin Language present in North
American Marketing. This award is also had like Grammy Latino.
On
October 10, 1995, in the Italian Culture institute in Madrid, in the
occasion of the selling of her millionth disk, Laura received from
the Italian Embassy a gold glob for her contribution given for
diffusing the popular Italian culture in Spain.
Laura
was rewarded by Billboard magazine, as the second female revelation
of 94, losing only for Mariah Carey.
In
July 1996, in Brussels, Laura received the F.P.I. Platinum Europe
Award, for the sold albums in Europe.
Besides
receiving: 11 platinum disks in Spain; 10 platinum disks in Italy; 6
platinum disks in Holland; 4 platinum disks in Chile; 3 platinum
disks in Mexico; 2 platinum disks in USA, in Switzerland, in
Portugal, in Belgium, in Brazil and in Colombia; 1 platinum disk in
Guatemala, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay; 2 disks of gold in
Argentina; 1 disk of gold in France and in Venezuela.
Laura recorded too an English version of “La Solitudine” made by Tim
Rice, and it is named: "Loneliness".
